Start each day with a grateful heart is a quote I live my life by. Looking back on my life, it wasn’t easy but I am blessed for making it this far. I was born and raised in Florida from a father of Irish decent and a mother of Filipino decent. My mother had me at age seventeen. We walked across the stage together at her high school graduation. I was in her belly of course. My parents separated early on and I was raised by a single hard working father. Being the eldest of five siblings is a big responsibility, when you have parents who are working all the time. You become more than just a sister. You are a mother-like figure, a homework helper, a chef, a babysitter, and much more. I believe my upbringing has shaped who I am as a person. I am passionate about others and love helping people. Moving forward, In 2017, I found my true love. I was ecstatic and overjoyed that in November 2018 I announced I was pregnant. In August 2019, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Kalei. But due to unforeseen circumstances, I became a single mother. It turned out that I did not find my true love. But now I found a different kind of love, an unconditional love for my child. Now I must acknowledge that my daughter has Haitian roots. Her father is 100 percent Haitian, born and raised in Haiti. Because of my daughter, I am enthusiastic and eager to assist Haiti in rejuvenating it back to what it used to be. I would love one day to be able to take my daughter to Haiti so she can experience and connect with her ancestry.
